Just got hold of this beautiful ballad we recorded, called Never Let Me Go .

The band is called SW-X1 and the guy who transcribed and arranged all the tunes is a talented bloke called Simon Whiteside. We're all going to Cyprus in September to take part in the annual Paradise Jazz Festival and I can't wait!! Playing this music, with wicked musicians in the baking hot sun, by The Mediterranean is an absolute joy!
Hopefully we'll have lots more gigs around London and beyond when we gt back.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">hehe!! My main ride is the Jack De Johnette Mini-bell ride and is my absolute favourite. It is so thin that is wobbles everytime you hit it! I love that cymbal and it records very well too.
The other voice you heard is a 22" A Swish and is great for big bands. Again a very distinctive sound.

Nice playing and sound. Great (really great) band.

That's the best way to mic this type of band in my opinion.

Everyone is responsible for the dynamics.


Do you get psyched out when your sound bleeds into the other mics?

I know that the drums get a little washy this way, especially when the dynamics come up on the drums, but that's part of that sound.

Very natural like in the 50s and 60s. You can really hear what the players sounded like.

I like your ride sound on boplicity. The old K sounding ride in particular. Dejohnette cym. is cool too.

oh- that's the swisssssssshhhhhhh....

The first head sounded like a K when you weren't laying into it as much.
